16 DAYS was first installed over the 16 days of its duration in the gallery at The Western Front
Vancouver BC Canada, where I am also undertaking a residency as part of the Media programme therein.

My blurb from the guide says:
I am uncomfortable, sometimes to a state of almost paralysis, around strangers.
This makes public transport a particularly harrowing experience.
These portraits are taken with a Nintendo Gameboy camera which has a mirror lens function.
A full face can be constructed from 2 right or left halves.
I choose to use this in order to get some distance from the image.
The resulting face is no longer my face, but it's mood and expression seem both appropriate and amplified.
I choose to use only the right half of my face as I am left handed.
The piece is pretty much about following rules and documenting the documentation, so
in the end a transport strike is just a pain in the ass and didnt really affect the work in a negative way.
Did the circumstances of each photograph have any bearing on the eventual likeness? Maybe..
Its a matter of opinion really.......
Due to the strike I was (and still am) unable to travel to the Front every day and so Matt (Mr Husband)
and I have been living on a a couch in the Fronts green room.
This is a fact that I neglected to include in the text but hopefully will fill in the gap for a few people who
were keen to follow my progress throughout the strike.

The show that 16 DAYS has been a part of is called ARCADE and also features work by Vancouver artists
Meesoo Lee Demian Petryshyn and Eric Emery. It was curated by Jonathan Middleton as part of a series entitled
POPULAR FORMAT and this particular show was featuring artists who work with video games.
They were good guys and I recommend running to look at more of their work if you see their names on a poster.
